THE LEVIATHAN'S PLAYING

Part of the research activities of The Leviathan Playing (2017-2021) has consisted of the territorial exploration of the surroundings of the largest winter refuge for gray whales in the Eastern Pacific: the Ojo de Liebre Lagoon in the Bay and desert of El Vizcaíno in the Baja California peninsula.

This has allowed us to know in more detail the way in which this ecosystem changes throughout the year, as well as to discover in it the material vestiges of its natural history and of the human presence in it. In addition, dozens of species have been observed in the field in which they co-exist with Eschrichtius robustus during its presence in the lagoon.

Finally, this exploration has been contrasted with an extensive study of documentary sources, which has made it possible to connect our naturalistic observations with their historical and ethnographic antecedents.

The materials generated during the Leviathan Games cycle are publicly accessible and free, and come to you thanks to the voluntary work of countless collaborators.

The complete complete archive consists of more than 1,000 hours of video in several simultaneous channels of high-quality recording. It could not be edited, processed and uploaded online for consultation in its entirety due to lack of resources for that purpose.
